October 20th, 1992. Game 3 of the 1992 World Series.
It's the top of the 4th. The score 0-0. Deion Sanders on second, Terry Pendleton on first. No outs. David Justice hits a ball deep into centre. Devon White makes "The Catch" and then quickly sends the ball back to Alomar who relays it to Olerud for the double up on Pendleton. Olerud throws across the diamond to Gruber catching Sanders in a rundown. Gruber chases Sanders towards second making a leaping tag on Sanders' foot, right in front of umpire Bob Davidson in what should have been the 2nd triple play in World Series history. Unfortunately, Davidson called Sanders safe, making it one of the worst botched calls in MLB history.
